The Corporate Centre

The operations team in the QRC Corporate Centre is made up of Accounts, IT, the Librarian, Sales and Marketing, Student Relations and a Careers Manager. Among these staff are:

Chief Executive

Charlie Phillips
BA Hons

Charlie Phillips has been living in Queenstown for 17 years. Charlie has been Chief Executive of QRC since October 2008, and has managed the transition of a developing institution into a sustainable one.

Prior to this Charlie worked in Tourism for 12 years, within the rental car sector, where he was General Manager of New Zealand for Europcar. During this period he was influential in growing the foundation company from 30 cars to1000 cars, 3 to 17 branches and 10 to 120 staff.

Charlie has a BA (Hons) in Environmental Science from the University of Tasmania.

Student Relations Manager

Rachel Senior
BCom, TESOL, TEFL

Rachel is responsible for student accommodation and welfare, providing full support to students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. Rachel has over 14 years experience in the English language industry in both New Zealand and Europe, and eight years experience running her own English language school in Queenstown.

Careers Manager

Rachel Exell

Rachel places QRC diploma students and international interns into suitable work placements within the tourism and hospitality industry. Rachel is the liaison point between employers, interns and their home education providers.

International Marketing and Recruitment Manager

Duncan Sadleir
BCom Tourism Marketing, Adv Dip Hotel Management IHTTI, Switzerland

Duncan holds a Diploma in Hotel Management from IHTTI, Switzerland and a B. Com Tourism (Marketing) from Lincoln University, NZ. In addition to his previous experience in the hotel and services industries, Duncan brings over 15 years international experience in marketing education. Prior to joining QRC he worked in international and domestic marketing and recruitment with Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS) New Zealand, Blue Mountains Hotel School (BMHS), Australia and International College of Management Sydney (ICMS), Australia.

National Recruitment & Alumni Manager

Marjoree Wimmers
Diploma of Hospitality Management

After graduating from QRC in 2008 with her Diploma of Hospitality Management, Marjoree was selected by SKYCITY, joining their team as Corporate Reservations Specialist. Marjoree then joined the QRC Student Recruitment department as Recruitment Coordinator for the past 3 years before being promoted to the National Recruitment and Alumni Manager.

Marjoree adds value to the team due to her industry experience and past experience as a QRC student.

Business Development Manager

Sarah Cairns
Associate Degree in Hotel Management IHTTI, Switzerland

Sarah has rejoined the QRC team, having previously looked after the Domestic Marketing & Recruitment team for 4 years. With a strong background in Hotel Management and Marketing both internationally and nationally, Sarah's new role will be responsible for the marketing of products under the new "Better Business" brand which includes industry training and development and leadership courses.

QRC Training and Development Manager

Fiona Boyer
BPHED (Otago), Vice President NZ Snowsport Instructors Alliance, and MInstD (member NZ institute of directors)

Fiona drives QRC Training – the industry training arm of Queenstown Resort College, as well as placing all of QRC’s adventure tourism and snowsport business management students onto industry internships.

Fiona’s extensive background in snowsport business, tourism, education and corporate training means both students and industry professionals alike gain access to leading training programmes and industry networks.

Hospitality Business Manager

Paul Tudgay

Winner of the Remarkables 2010 Outstanding Hospitality Personality of the Year Paul has 18 years experience in the hospitality industry including; working as a maitre d, bar manager and restaurant manager. He has worked in 5 star properties such as Fountain Bleu Hilton Miami, The Hotel d'France and the Chateau de la Mare in Jersey, U.K. Paul is also a qualified Sommelier and is an assesor for the Wines & Spirits Education Trust (WSET).  

Paul is responsible for managing the Common Room Cafe, Conferencing & Functions and Wine Education at The College.
