Introduction - Snowsport Management

QRC delivers the only Diploma of Adventure Tourism Management specialising in Snowsport in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Diploma has been specifically modified in association with industry to produce graduates who not only hold a passion for snow sports but who are professional, demonstrate the ability to lead and have strong business skills. Although the curriculum (and the award) is the same as the generic Diploma of Adventure Tourism Management, subjects contain specific industry course content and students will have direct exposure to leaders and practioners within the Ski / Snowboard industry.

Graduates will have a solid understanding of the day to day operations, seasonality of a ski resort and will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to quickly progress to positions of responsibility and management. Graduates will also have the ability to work in the tourism, eco tourism and adventure tourism sectors.

The programme features the opportunity to undertake two fully paid seasonal positions with NZSki (The operators of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables & Mt Hutt). During their internship, students will also complete a National Certificate in Tourism with strands in Snowsport – this can also lead to higher level industry awards.

Students may also undertake their internship in other adventure based organisations or snowsport areas once approved by the Internship Manager.

  • Learning is practical - you will visit and participate in snowsport specific activities and operations.
  • Earn while you learn! You undertake two fully paid internships within the Snowsport Industry including the opportunity to work with NZSki * at one of their 3 resorts (Coronet Peak, The Remarkables & Mt Hutt).
  • If you undertake your internship with NZSki they will provide you with official clothing as well as free ski passes, transport, and subsidised meals.
  • During their internship, students working with NZSki will be able to complete a National Certificate in Tourism with strands in Snowsport – this can also lead to higher level industry awards.

  • Students may be eligible to apply for a J 1 Visa enabling them to work in North American ski resorts such as Sun Valley, Idaho.
