Course Description

A strategic leader's responsibility is to not only manage the here and now, but also to ensure that the organisation is adapting for the future. Executives and senior managers must have the knowledge, skills and insights necessary to address competitive business challenges.

Each segment of this four-day course is designed to impart simple - but powerful - lessons that will equip participants to more fully engage in strategic discussions, ask pertinent questions, facilitate critical decisions and shape high-performing organisations. In addition, the course provides students with a personal leadership profile that illustrates their strengths and potential.

Guest Presenter

Joseph Doyle is the Managing Director of Strategic Insights, Inc., a U.S. based consulting firm, specializing in executive leadership. Strategic Insights (SI) provides services in executive coaching, strategy development, decision support and organizational diagnosis and change. SI offers management seminars in strategic leadership, executive decision making, optimizing board effectiveness and leading high performance teams. Clients include organizations such as: Delphi Corporation, Siemens, Ingersoll Rand, Michigan Department of Transportation, Chrysler Corporation, Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, Panasonic, General Motors Corporation, Michigan State Police, Magna International, Honda Motor Company and the Society of Automotive Engineers.

In 2003, Mr. Doyle completed a 30-year career with General Motors Corporation, where he held managerial positions such as: Lead Consultant, Corporate Strategy and Decision Support Activity; Manager, Organizational Research and Manager, Corporate Executive Development. Prior to joining GM, Mr. Doyle was employed by the Ford Motor Company, the U.S. Public Health Service and the Management and the Organization Development Department of General Motors Institute (now Kettering University).

While employed by General Motors Mr. Doyle directed the GM California Project which managed the resources of the State of California, the Federal Government and the International UAW. He has facilitated Corporate Global Task Teams in India, Indonesia, Thailand, England and Australia, and served as the Corporate Liaison on Leadership and Strategy to the US Army War College and National Defense University.

Mr. Doyle holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. His doctoral studies focused on Strategic Leadership and Organization Change.

Fee

The fee is NZ$ 3,350 plus GST. This includes tuition, course materials, refreshments, lunches, a class dinner and a cocktail welcome the night before the course commences.
