Saturday 21st March 2009 saw QRC host its second graduation ceremony, at the Millennium Hotel in Queenstown. It was an extra special occasion as not only was it the inaugural graduation of the Adventure Tourism Management students but the Hon. Bill English Deputy Prime Minister attended to present the students with their diplomas. He spoke of how Queenstown Resort College plays a special role in the education system and told the students they were the future leaders of the tourism industry. In all 44 students graduated although not all were able to attend the ceremony. With many of them now spread around the world from Zimbabwe to The United Kingdom, India and Singapore it was evident that many of them are using their skills to explore the world. The Hon. Bill English did remind the graduates that New Zealand needs their skills and to please return here one day and put them to use.

After attending the ceremony the graduates, their families and friends were invited back to the college for drinks and canapés and a chance to catch up with old classmates and staff members. A great afternoon was had by all, the proud looks on the parents faces certainly demonstrated this.
