QRC launches new Graduate Diploma

QRC’s new Graduate Diploma set to take Queenstown to the next level (as a study destination)

In an exciting move, Queenstown Resort College (QRC) has announced its new Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management (GDTHM), the college’s first degree-level qualification.

“The new QRC Graduate Diploma has been developed in direct collaboration with industry to ensure that the course is not only relevant but will produce highly-skilled, in-demand industry professionals” said Charlie Phillips, CEO of Queenstown Resort College.

As Queenstown’s first Category One, Level 7 education programme, the QRC GDTHM is set to enhance the region’s educational offering and help to establish Queenstown as a serious study destination on the international stage.

“Having just returned from China with a Study Queenstown contingent, there was very strong interest in QRC’s new graduate diploma. This is an excellent addition to the higher education product offering in Queenstown, and will ensure we continue to attract high quality domestic and international students to the region” said Aaron Halstead, Study Queenstown Manager.

The one-year programme allows degree graduates to pursue study at an advanced undergraduate level (Level 7) and will attract talented young professionals to the Queenstown tourism industry. The Graduate programme will also provide domestic industry professionals, with extensive practical experience and the opportunity to gain a formal industry qualification to support career advancement.

“A stand-out feature of the GDTHM is the 200-hour internship which will allow students to work on mainstream projects within the sector while also gaining operational experience,” said Mr Phillips.

The GDTHM is intended to provide the theoretical and operational base in tourism and hospitality knowledge and skills required by those aspiring to work towards management positions in the industry. The taught and the internship elements of the GDTHM would give graduates a more in-depth skills base, and a strong foundation in contextualised critical analysis relating to the tourism and hospitality industry.

Applications are now open for the first intake for April 2017.
