    Jacqui is a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience in the New Zealand education system. Prior to QRC, Jacqui spent five years in investment banking in London specialising in loan syndication.  At QRC she takes responsibility for Compliance, Quality Assurance and drives the Mentoring, Professional Development and Recruitment of teachers.  Jacqui develops and continually reviews the content of both the Adventure Tourism and Hospitality Management Diplomas, in accordance with NZQA.

    Dr Sam Spector

    Graduate Diploma Programme Leader 

    PhD Tourism, MA Sport Management, BSc Business Administration

    Subject(s) taught:  In addition to overseeing the development of this new programme, Sam teaches components of several papers, including the Fundamentals of Tourism and Hospitality, Business Management, Sales and Marketing, and Strategic Management. Sam supervises students’ internships and research projects. He also continues to work on several of his own research projects, including a study of the resilience of rural New Zealand communities to hazards, the effects of the Christchurch earthquakes on tourism operators, and a book the space tourism industry.

    Sam holds a PhD from the Department of Tourism at the University of Otago. After completing his PhD he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Sustainability, also at Otago. He has completed a Master’s in Sport Management, and also holds a BSc in Business Administration, providing him with a varied background that has proven useful in researching and teaching in the tourism field.

    Sam’s Master’s and PhD research focused on environmental marketing in the skiing industry, particularly addressing issues related to climate change and transport. He completed a range of projects during his Postdoc at the Centre for Sustainability, including studies of the environmental and social impacts of New Zealand’s transport systems and the resilience of tourism operators to natural hazards.

    Subject(s) Taught – The Resorts Elective, Human Resources and Case Study.

    Originally from the UK Kirsty has a degree in Psychology as well as a teaching degree in post compulsory education and training. She has taught in schools and colleges in the UK and New Zealand for over 5 years.

    Kirsty spent several years travelling the world through parts of Europe, Asia and Australia. Kirsty has previously worked in both hospitality and adventure tourism. In Queenstown she was a manager for Distinction Resort. She has also worked for leading adventure tourism companies NZSki and Dart River.

  • Fabiola Letieri Peysner

    Fabiola Letieri Peysner

    Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management; Diploma in Business Management

    Subject (s) Taught: Food Services Studies & Operations; Hotel Operations Training Simulation (HOTS) and Year 1 Hospitality Advisor

    Originally from Brazil where she worked in the Airline Industry as an Event Coordinator primarily for International Conferences including Carnival a major international Halmark Event. Fabiola most recently worked as the Food & Beverage Manager for Rydges Queenstown for 3 years. She also managed a number of restaurants and was the supervisor at Millbrook Resort.

    Fabiola also brings international experience from Australia. Before moving to NZ lived Sydney, Australia for 5 years where she worked across departments at the Manly Parkroyal, currently the Intercontinental Hotel. Also in Australia she worked for a marketing distribution company as Recruiter and area Distribution Manager. In 2000 she had the opportunity to be part of the Sydney Olympic Games as Translator and Assistant for a major Brazilian TV network doing all media coverage.

    Growing up on her parents' winery in Hochheim in the Rheingau area in Germany, Chrissy was exposed to wine, tourism and running a business at an early age. 

    Chrissy has considerable tourism and hospitality management knowledge gained after 17 years industry experience, primarily in Germany, New Zealand and Australia.  

    Well travelled her work experience includes Conference and Event Management, Staff Management including recruitment, training and performance reviews. Her industry experience also extends to tourism behaviour research, relationship management and marketing.
