Staff

The operations team in the QRC Corporate Centre is made up of Accounts, IT, the Librarian, Sales and Marketing, Student Relations and a Careers Manager. Among these staff are:

  • Charlie Phillips

    Chief Executive (BA Hons)

    Charlie Phillips

    Originally from Tasmania, Australia Charlie has been living in Queenstown New Zealand for 21 years.

    He has been Chief Executive of QRC since 2008. Prior to QRC Charlie worked in Tourism for 12 years, within the rental car sector, where he was General Manager of New Zealand for Europcar. He moved to the education sector as he understood the ‘depth’ issues within the tourism workforce, and saw QRC as the perfect vehicle for addressing this.

    Having 3 young daughters, Charlie understands the value of being part of a positive community and as a result is Chairman of the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce, is a co-opted member of the Destination Queenstown Board, Chairman of the Kelvin Peninsula Community Association and Chairman of Study Queenstown.

  • Rachel Senior

    Student Relations Manager

    Rachel Senior

    BCom, TESOL, TEFL

    Rachel is responsible for student accommodation and welfare, providing full support to students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. Rachel has over 14 years experience in the English language industry in both New Zealand and Europe, and eight years experience running her own English language school in Queenstown.

    Internship Manager

    Laura Flannery

    Diploma of Outdoor Leadership and Management, Certificate in Sports Management and Coaching
     
    Laura holds a Diploma in Outdoor Leadership and Management from the Institute of Sport and Adventure. Prior to joining QRC she lived in Canada for two years and her experience in Adventure Tourism and Retail Management gives her great industry knowledge. A passion for the outdoors means Laura is never short of a reason to promote Queenstown as the best adventure playground in the world, and she encourages others with similar passions to take advantage of Queenstown’s amazing resources.

    As Internship Mananager, Laura places QRC diploma students into work placements within the tourism and hospitality industry. Laura is the liaison point between employers, interns and QRC.

  • Andrea Preston

    International Recruitment and Marketing Manager

    Andrea Preston

    Bachelor of Arts (Communications-Journalism)

    Andrea is the recruitment team's international representative, liaising with future students from a range of countries including India, China and Indonesia.

    Andrea's marketing experience has seen her previously work in real estate, engineering and insurance industries and she brings a range of business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing and communications skills to the college.

  • Megan Soper

    Recruitment Coordinator

    Megan Soper

    Diploma in Hospitality Management

    Megan is the QRC Upper North Island recruitment representative. Megan visits schools, attends career expos and liaises with students, parents and career advisors to educate them about the QRC diplomas.  Prior to joining QRC Megan was well established in the wine industry in Central Otago and is also an Alumni student of the college.

  • Ruth Kime

    Admissions Officer

    Ruth Kime

    BA Hons, ECS, PGCE (Primary)

    Ruth is responsible for the Admissions process of both international and domestic students. She acts as the point of contact for students and their parents throughout the admissions process helping students to prepare for their potential enrolment at QRC.

    Prior to joining QRC Ruth worked as a Teacher in the UK for over 10 years and after moving to New Zealand worked in Recruitment with NZSki. 

  • Duncan Sadleir

    International Recruitment Consultant

    Duncan Sadleir

    BCom Tourism Marketing, Adv Dip Hotel Management IHTTI, Switzerland

    Duncan holds a Diploma in Hotel Management from IHTTI, Switzerland and a B. Com Tourism (Marketing) from Lincoln University, NZ. In addition to his previous experience in the hotel and services industries, Duncan brings over 15 years international experience in marketing education. Prior to joining QRC he worked in international and domestic marketing and recruitment with Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS) New Zealand, Blue Mountains Hotel School (BMHS), Australia and International College of Management Sydney (ICMS), Australia.
