"Dear Alan
Thank you for your letter dated 29 June 2009 seeking my professional guidance regarding training best suited to start a successful career in the hospitality industry. In your letter you wanted to know my professional opinion of Queenstown Resort College and the International College of Hotel Management, Sydney.
Mirvac Hotels & Resorts New Zealand has had a mutually beneficial relationship with Queenstown Resort College for a number of years. From my experience with Queenstown Resort College I can recommend it as a training institute with exceptionally high standards, it is a quality product and is certainly well regarded in the industry. We have offered Industry Placements to several Queenstown Resort College students as part of the curriculum and we have always found the students to be of a very high calibre who have the appropriate level of training and understanding to undertake the Industry Placement successfully.
I also believe that the staff, teachers and management at Queenstown Resort College are of a very high standard with the majority of them having worked in the industry themselves for a number of years both nationally and internationally and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience.
I have also had exposure to The International College of Hotel Management in Sydney and also believe this college provides a very high level of training with a quality product. The two colleges complement each other and are aligned in their values and teaching methods.
I hope this has assisted you with some of the answers to your questions. Should you wish to discuss this further I am happy for you to give me a call. In addition I am sure that my contact at Queenstown Resort College Rachel Exell (Careers Manager) would be more than happy to assist you with any queries you may have related to Queenstown Resort College.
I would like to wish you the very best of luck and hope that you do take the plunge and start your career in this wonderful industry as soon as possible."

Hi Charlie
A group of your hospitality students came and worked with us on an Air NZ function, last Thursday night. They were well groomed, articulate, helpful and a great advertisement for the College. Paul Tudgay spent time ensuring that each of them knew exactly what was expected, giving them valuable information on how to serve and impressed upon them the high standards that we work to at The Rees.
Rob Fyfe, CEO of Air NZ commented on their professionalism and noted that training was amongst the most important ingredients that any business can invest in.
Please let me know if I can ever be of any assistance to you or to the college and please once again pass on my sincere thanks to Paul and his students.

Logan Doull, head of Guiding and Operations
"Many guides who come for the summer end up burning out with the workload and the obligatory social events of the season, but Lucy manages to keep her energy and enthusiasm up so much that in literally infects the clients she is taking underground.
In all, a happy, energetic guide who doesn't mind what we throw at her. She has been talking about returning next summer (hopefully with a passenger endorsement for driving the vans) and I really hope she does".

The level of candidate is exceptional and we envisage a long and successful partnership with QRC in order to ensure we have a regular intake of well trained and professional students each year".

"QRC students bring a 5 star mindset to our hotel. Being truly committed to the hospitality industry, they strive for excellence in whatever they are doing - all the time! 5 stars is not about an award or designation or even adhering to certain standards - it's about a mentality....a way of working - and these students have it!"
